ART227: design in the wild

One particular assignment that stuck with me in my Art227 class was a scavenger hunt we did where we had to think about an experience and how design choice affected that experience. What made this assignment so unique was that we jotted down an experience we already knew about but also as a class took a trip uptown (and around campus) to look at design and how it influenced people. Even though the walk was quite long i still appreciated being able to closely analyze signs and buildings that had interesting design choices. Below is a screenshot of the assignment itself.

Feeling to Form

For an experience i was aware of i picked the Newport Aquarium because it was a place that had unique design choices but also due to the fact some design choices were kind of peculiar to me.

Miami Campus

The next experience/design had to be from campus so i chose the newly established “M” and how it had strong qualities in design.

Uptown Example

This design really caught my eye uptown and i felt as though it was perfect in the sense of talking about how certain elements of design can catch someone’s eye.
